Ex-police officer charged with possession of child pornography

Jesus ZamoraA former police officer from Imperial County was charged with of possession of child pornography after authorities searched his home in Temecula and allegedly found about two dozen suspect images on his home computer.
Hector Jesus Zamora, 42, was taken into custody at his home on Tuesday.
The images found on his computer included some in which Zamora appeared to be with possibly underage girls, said John Hall, spokesman for the Riverside County district attorney’s office.
Investigators believe the pictures were taken about 10 years ago when Zamora was living in Holtville, a small town east of El Centro, where he worked as a police officer. Zamora has lived in Temecula since 2005, and previously lived in San Diego County.
The FBI searched Zamora’s Temecula home on January 2010, when the computer was seized. After a forensic investigation was done, and the suspected child pornography images were found, the case was handed over to the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement task force, a joint effort of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
Zamora has been charged with one count of possession child sexual exploitation images.  He was released after posting $5,000 bail.
