Man fatally shot by San Bernardino deputies
San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a Yucaipa man Wednesday night during a struggle in which he removed a gun from the holster of one of them and fired it.
Kenneth P. Munoz, 31, died at the scene of the shooting, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deputies went to a home on the 35200 block of Avenue B about 7 p.m. after a man called to say his son was under the influence of drugs and would not give up his car, according to the report.
When they arrived, deputies noticed Munoz was armed with a gun. They ordered him to drop the weapon. He ran off, and they found him in a neighbor’s yard.
As they attempted to arrest him, he began to struggle with deputies, according to the report. During the struggle he was able to remove a gun from the holster of one of them. Munoz allegedly fired the weapon. Other deputies on the scene then fired at Munoz several times, killing him, according to the report.
